Opportunity to Prosper is YPN’s financial education series that equips young professionals with the necessary tools to build a sound financial plan, placing an emphasis on wealth creation through multiple sources of income. The series begins with two introductory workshops on financial education and wealth creation that will be open to all YPN members.
Workshop Schedule
February 26 – FNL 101: Financial Literacy
Learn the fundamentals of personal finance with discussions on: retirement planning, saving versus investing, myths and misconceptions of financial planning, obtaining proper insurance coverage and understanding income taxes.
March 5 – FNL 201: Creating Wealth
Receive an overview of trading on the stock market, starting a physical business, real estate investing, and protecting your assets (prerequisite for 300 level workshops).
March 19 – FNL 301: Introduction to Trading
Learn the steps to investing in the stock market, conducting proper research, buying low and selling high, and the risks and rewards of investing.
April 9 – FNL 302: Physical Business Entrepreneurship
Discuss the challenges, risks and rewards of being an entrepreneur with discussions on: boot-strapping, obtaining capital, writing a business plan/capability statement and innovation.
April 23 - FNL 303: Online Business
Discover the methods to operating an online business ranging from a personal EBay account to a billion dollar corporation such as Amazon.com.
May 14 - FNL 304: Real Estate
Gain a fundamental understanding of real estate investing. Learn the basics of purchasing, owning, managing, renting and/or selling real estate.
